A modem is a bridge between
your computer and the phone line. The faster the modem, the
more "traffic" it can handle. The rate pictures and other
information on the Internet appear on your computer is
affected by your modem speed. You must have a modem capable
of transmitting data at 14,400 baud to access the Internet
from your computer. If possible, you should use a modem that
has a transmission rate of 28,800 baud or higher.
